Get to know Stan

Steve (Stan) Stanley is a core member of The Tarn Group team, having been a part of TTG full time since 2004, he has had may roles within the company throughout the years, he has been an account manager, project manager, done support and training and software design and testing. His current role as Business development manager involves looking for new customers and maintaining a good relationship with our current ones.

Stan's passion for fitness and love of education and learning is what keeps him interested and engaged in the work happening here at TTG. The thing he finds most rewarding about his job is getting a system in place that not only helps the client but also helps the client’s customers. "Knowledge is power and it can help so many people in so many ways."

After obtaining undergraduate and master's degrees in Physical Education at the University of Otago, he then moved to Auckland and worked for AUT University and ended up as a senior lecturer and researcher after 12 years. While still working at AUT, he went back to university and did undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Physiotherapy. During this time working at AUT Stan used and tested the first versions of the Siliconcoach software then eventually went on to help sell the software. After meeting his wife and moving back to Dunedin, he began working full time for The Tarn Group (Siliconcoach) in 2004.

After spending a few years in Dunedin, Stan moved to San Francisco, where he managed the contract TTG had with Specialized Bicycles in the USA. He did all their in-store bike fitting software and hardware. In 2016 with a new daughter, Stan and his family moved back to New Zealand and set up home in Mount Maunganui where he now works from home and looks after TTG clients mainly in the North Island. Despite the physical distance between his location and The Tarn Group office, regular trips down, the ease of communicating online be it face-to-face (skype/zoom) or email, and the fact that our Bracken system is also all online makes it all very doable.

With a passion for education and learning, Stan believes TTG is headed in the right direction in the education space, he believes we're sitting on the cutting edge of the learning revolution that is taking place in all segments of the community. "No longer is it learn until you are 20 and then work until you are 65, learning is now a lifelong pursuit and we are a part of that."

It's easy to see why Stan is such a valuable part of the team here at The Tarn Group, making a positive difference in the lives of our company and our clients.
